5 fun ways to get your CPD points at (almost no cost)!!

CPD points might be more of a drain than a joy but here are 5 fun ways we can all get some of those magical points without breaking the bank!

Impact of COVID-19 on the legal profession -> for the 2019-20 CPD year only, the NSW Law Society will not be enforcing the five-unit cap on private study of audio/visual material

Details to note: The audio/visual material used for private study must be specifically designed for the purpose of updating a solicitor’s knowledge and/or skills relevant to his/her practice (CPD rule 8.2). Solicitors are already permitted to complete an unlimited number of units of ‘web-based programming’ under the CPD rules. Web-based programming is different from the private study of audio/visual material because it takes place in real-time or involves an interactive element such as a discussion group.

The Judges' Series (NSW)

The Judges’ Series provides legal practitioners with unique and valuable insights from current Supreme Court of NSW and Federal Court of Australia judges. The series has been held biennially since 2000 and has been highly regarded by the profession for its practical insights from both courts and praised for its exceptional educational value.

An oppression suit can endanger a company’s very existence.

The solemn consequences of s232 proceedings demand of a company that its directors understand the law of oppression and how the associated risks can be managed. Due to a company having the capacity and powers of an individual, companies may engage in an essentially unlimited range of conduct. This necessarily includes conduct that might amount to oppression. This CLE paper is shared with kind permission from James d'Apice.

James d'Apice has kindly granted permission for us to share his supporting CLE paper on drafting unambiguous exclusion clauses.
